Days of Our Lives Suspends Production for 2 Weeks After Staff Member Tests Positive for COVID-19

The sand briefly stopped flowing through the iconic hourglass from Days of Our Lives.
According to our sister site Deadline, NBC soap production was suspended for two weeks after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. Filming is slated to resume on October 26th and the break in work won't disrupt the days' on-air schedule.
The news comes six weeks after Days restarted after a six-month stoppage due to the coronavirus pandemic. In contrast to day mates The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, Days had enough finished originals to remain without repetitions all summer.
Days has weathered a fair amount of commotion over the past few months when a number of longtime performers filed their resignation. The most famous deserter, Kristian Alfonso, made headlines when she announced in July that she was leaving the show after nearly four decades.
The actress, who is scheduled to make her final appearance as Hope on Wednesday October 14, later stated that she decided to move on after executive producer Ken Corday suggested pulling her off the show for a few months, before they brought them back in a new act with a Navy Seal. "I was surprised," she said at the time. "It wasn't anything that was ever talked about, but it was. And to come back in five to six months or four to five months - whatever that timeframe was - I just thought," You know what? It's time really to write a new chapter. "
