Earlier this week, the PSA "I Take Responsibility" was criticized by several white celebrities for people who thought it was a deaf and dumb reaction.
In response, the white actors from Netflix's popular series Dear White People filmed a parody PSA as their own toneless characters.
"The white students at Winchester also want to take responsibility. We tried to stop them," the show tweeted with the video.
Earlier this week, several prominent white celebrities appeared on a PSA for the "I'm Taking Responsibility" campaign. The spot, which was described as "influential voices of the white community that takes responsibility for the turn of the racist newspaper in America", proved to be controversial and was described by critics as "deaf". The PSA featured prominent actors such as Sarah Paulson, Aaron Paul, Julianne Moore and Stanley Tucci.
In response to the much-criticized ad, white actors from the popular Netflix series Dear White People recorded a parody of the campaign. John Patrick Amedori, Wyatt Nash, Caitlin Carver, Erich Lane and Sheridan Pierce filmed a parody as the deaf and dumb people they play on the show
"The white students at Winchester also want to take responsibility. We tried to stop them," the show's tweet said, sharing the video.
"I'm Muffy Tuttle and I take responsibility," says Carver as "Dear White People". "I take responsibility for being white and handsome and desirable for men of all races."
"I take responsibility ... for being funny, even though people are PC now," Nash, in the role of Kurt, adds.
