Democrats shatter fundraising records ahead of Georgia Senate runoffs
Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have each raised more than $ 100 million in the past two months, giving them a distinct advantage over GOP Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in the final round of the Georgia Senate's two races, the The decision will be made by the Chamber of Control next month.
The massive fundraising for the two Democrats was largely driven by donations in small dollars. This continued the pattern of the party's Senate candidates using online donors across the country to fund their challenger campaigns this year, even though the Democrats fell short in November despite the fundraising.
Ossoff became the best-funded Senate candidate in history, grossing $ 106.8 million in two months. Perdue, his opponent, has not yet reported his campaign results, which are due at the end of the day on Thursday.

Ossoff spent $ 93.5 million from October 15 through December 16, ending that period with $ 17.5 million for the final weeks of the runoff.
Warnock also clearly surpassed Loeffler. The Democratic campaign raised $ 103.4 million and spent $ 86.1 million. He had $ 22.8 million in cash in the bank in the final weeks of the campaign leading up to the two January elections.
Loeffler raised $ 64 million, and her fundraising campaigns skyrocketed, despite little of her own contribution during that time. Loeffler loaned her campaign $ 23 million for the general election but donated only $ 333,200 in the past two months. She spent $ 48.6 million and ended the period with $ 21.3 million in cash in the bank.
All three candidates who have applied so far have the $ 57.9 million raised in the third quarter of the year by South Carolina Democrat Jamie Harrison in his ultimately failed campaign against GOP Senator Lindsey Graham, which was the best fundraiser at the time, smashing quarters for any Senate candidate ever.
The donation advantage for Democrats has given their candidates a massive advantage in television advertising. Ossoff has already spent $ 67 million on television since the November election, compared to $ 34 million on Perdue, according to AdImpact. Warnock has spent $ 53 million to date, compared to $ 36 million on Loeffler. Both Democrats have also booked more for the last two weeks of the race.
However, GOP outgroups have a huge spending advantage that has negated the benefits of democratic campaigning.
The two runoff elections in the Senate are both among the most expensive Senate races in the country's history, even considering they are only about two months long. However, due to a quirk in the campaign finance reporting calendar, the source of the vast majority of external spending will not be disclosed until well after the election.
Many outside groups, along with the Senate committees of both parties, don't have to report their fundraising until late January - which means the source of money they raised from late November until the runoff election isn't announced until long after the voters have voted. (You must, however, report your expenses for independent expenses like advertising or fieldwork shortly after the expenses.
However, some groups had to provide a more complete picture of their funding. Fair Fight, a group founded by former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, raised $ 22.3 million between November 24 and December 24. 16, including several seven-figure donations from working groups. Fair Fight distributed roughly half of this to other liberal groups that were working on the election.
Georgia United Victory - a Republican group that previously gave over $ 10 million to Jeffrey Sprecher, Loeffler's husband - raised $ 2.8 million over the same period. Speaker did not donate this time.
