Game Notes: The Tigers lost another series on Monday, this time to the Chicago White Sox; Detroit lost two out of three games against the Toronto Blue Jays through the end of July and has yet to win a series in August. Despite splitting a few four-game sets, the Guardians haven't lost a series in more than a month (July 8-10 vs. the Kansas City Royals). That span includes two sweeps by the Tigers and two wins this weekend against the Blue Jays.
Civale was dominant against the Tigers in May but allowed two runs in four innings against Detroit last week. This is only its third launch since July 13. Riley Greene, Harold Castro, Javier Baez and Eric Haase all scored to help the Tigers score those two in a long fourth inning against the Civale. But it wasn't enough as the Guardians scored three goals in five innings against Hutchison and the Bullpen clinched a 3-2 win. Hutchison gave up eight hits while fighting his way through five and was taken out early by a leadoff triple followed by an RBI single from Tigers killer Jose Ramirez. A pair of runs in the second inning was all Cleveland needed on offense.
The series ends with night games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
