The 56-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife were walking their two dogs in Westminster, central London, when they were approached by a man pushing a bicycle down the sidewalk.
The man, wearing a face covering and gloves, stopped the couple before pulling the watch off the man's arm and scratching the forearm.
The couple began fighting, at which point the woman attempted to drag the robber away from Spanish Place during the attack on August 4 at 4:15 p.m.
Officials are asking for the public's help to identify the man they want to speak to who was coverted to video surveillance in connection with a Westminster robbery - SWNS
The victim was slapped several times in the face as the fight continued and pursued him as the man set off across Manchester Square.
He caught up with him on Hinge Street, where he was slapped again in the face before the robber cycled down Duke Street towards Selfridges.
The victims were taken to a London veterinary clinic by officials where they said goodbye to their dog. The victims were then taken home by the officers.
Detective Inspector Lee Hannant of the West Area Command Unit said, "This was an unprovoked and unacceptable attack that shocked and angered victims.
"The attack resulted in the unnecessary death of the victims' beloved dog.
"I would ask anyone who recognizes the man in the picture published today to get in touch.
"If you know what happened, or if you think you've seen something suspicious or inappropriate, please give us a call immediately and tell us what you know."
