Donte Whitner torches 49ers' Robert Saleh after Brian Allen struggles

Whitner Torches 49ers DC Saleh after Allen Fighting Miami originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Brian Allen started the game for the 49ers on Sunday just a day after he was promoted from the training team, and it didn't go well as the Miami Dolphins targeted the young cornerback early and often.
Ahkello Witherspoon replaced Allen in the second quarter, but the damage had been done when the Dolphins rolled at Levi's Stadium 43-17. NBC Sports Bay Area analysts Donte Whitner and Jeff Garcia blame one person for this - and it's not everyone.
"I'll put it on the defensive coordinator, Robert Saleh," said Whitner Garcia and Laura Britt on "49ers Halftime Live" on Twitter. "You understand this guy was on the training team yesterday. You are going to compete against receivers # 1 and # 2, who are 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-5.
"They have 15 yards of rushing, [so] why are you still in single high? Why are you playing cover 3? You don't have [Nick] Bosa there to get you a four-man rush, [so] why “Are you continuing to play this reporting? Help this guy out.
“It's a practice player that covers DeVante Parker, who was number 5 in the National Football League last year. How many times does he have to hit you over the top before you play cover 2, cover 5 or bring help to this guy? "

The 49ers secondary school was struck in week 5, with Richard Sherman, Emmanuel Moseley and K'Waun Williams excluded due to injuries. Witherspoon missed the last two 49ers games but was active on Sunday and Saleh opted for Allen instead.
Garcia asked why Witherspoon wasn't out there to start when he was healthy enough to play.
"For me it's just a guy who doesn't want to play that well," said Garcia. "If you're healthy enough, you were a starter for this team last year. But you're going to have a man on the training team [play] but you'll pass and now you're in the game?"
After that effort there will be a lot of guilt as the 49ers certainly didn't expect Week 5 to be out.
