Let's set the scene here: Eddie Vedder, well-known Pearl Jam frontman, and Paul McCartney, well-known Beatle, are hanging out in a hotel bar in Seattle. The two exchange stories.
McCartney shared a little anecdote about how he once punched someone (whose identity is never revealed). And as Vedder fondly recounted today during a guest DJ set on SiriusXM's new Beatles channel, McCartney kind of lost control of his hands:
"He was kind of illustrating how he was hitting this guy and when he did that he shot his left arm out like he was going to hit this guy and I was standing there getting hit," he explains. "He hit me! He didn't pull the punch all the way back you see... as I listened I thought Paul McCartney just punched me in the face and it hurt. I think I remember tasting a little bit of blood, it hit me right on the side of [the face]. And he quickly apologized so it wouldn't get in the way of the story. I remember it hurt for a couple of days and I remember when it went away and the pain went away and so on, the swelling went down, I kind of missed it."

A really beautiful moment. And frankly, if anyone gets away with casually slapping someone in the face mid-story, it's Sir Paul McCartney.
