Top European officials have attacked President Biden's actions amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, even questioning whether the United States remains an ally as gas prices skyrocket and US green energy policy has Europeans, according to a report into “full blown panic mode” .
European officials, speaking anonymously to Politico, accused the US of "profiting" from Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and complained that the green subsidies and taxes included in the anti-inflation law are damaging relations between the US and European allies and partners would have worsened.
"The fact is that the country that is soberly benefiting the most from this war is the US because they are selling more gas and at higher prices and because they are selling more arms," a senior official told Politico.
"We are truly at an historic turning point," the official added, arguing that US policies have disrupted trade and that high gas prices are turning public opinion against aid to Ukraine. "America needs to recognize that public opinion is changing in many EU countries."
