Former Surgeon General Jerome Adams says he's still feeling the effects of the "Trump hangover," nearly two years into his tenure in the Trump administration.
"People are still afraid to touch anything associated with Trump," Adams told the Washington Post in an interview published Friday.
Adams, who served as surgeon general for most of former President Trump's tenure, said he's had a hard time finding a job in academia or in the corporate world after leaving the administration.

"Finding a place to land was a lot harder than he thought because of the Trump effect," his wife, Lacey Adams, told the Post.
Adams was eventually hired as executive director for health initiatives at Purdue University, where former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) serves as president.
While the Post's former surgeon general clarified that he was "not complaining about his current situation," Adams noted that "it's the context."
"[Trump is] a force that's really taking the air out of the room," he said.
The former president last week announced his third run for the presidency, a move Adams said will likely "make things more difficult" for him.

Trump's 2024 announcement was marred by the GOP's lackluster performance in this month's midterm elections, which many in the party blamed on the former president.
