A former White House national security adviser who testified in the first impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is helping President Joe Biden prepare for his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Axios reported.
Fiona Hill is one of the Russia experts who will brief Biden before the meeting, Axios reported.
Hill was the leading Russia expert in the White House from 2017 to 2019 under the Trump administration.
She testified during Trump's first impeachment trial when lawmakers investigated his dealings with Ukraine.
Hill was also present at Trump's meeting with Putin in Helsinki in June 2018, at which Trump was apparently placed on Putin's side over US intelligence on the issue of Russian electoral interference. Hill told BBC News earlier this year that she was considering "faking some sort of medical emergency" to disrupt a press conference.
