Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz reveals he lives with a 19-year-old Cuban immigrant whom he calls his son

Florida MP Matt Gaetz said Thursday that he is living with a Cuban immigrant named Nestor, whom he calls his son.
"For anyone who is wondering, this is my son Nestor," Gaetz tweeted along with a photo of him and the man he identified as Nestor. "We don't share blood, but he's my life. He came from Cuba six years ago (of course legally) and lives with me in Florida. I'm so proud of him and his upbringing was the best and most rewarding thing I have." have done in my life. "
The Florida congressman's tweets came after he got into a screaming match with Louisiana representative Cedric Richmond at a hearing on the police reform earlier this week.
After Richmond spoke about the injustice the black man and his son face, Gaetz interjected and asked, "Are you suggesting that you are sure that none of us have non-white children? Because you're thinking about your black son and you couldn't understand one of us said. "
Gaetz previously posted photos and videos with Nestor, describing him as a "local student" and "helper". But Thursday was the first time that he publicly called Nestor his son.

In a follow-up tweet, Gaetz wrote that Nestor had turned 19 a few days ago and was "going to university".
"He arrived here at 12," Gaetz tweeted. "As you can imagine, I was triggered when (to have an absurd debate) a Congressman cut Republican contributions because we didn't raise non-white children. Well, I did."
The Florida Congressman's tweets came after he hit the headlines the previous day after he got into a screaming match with Louisiana representative Cedric Richmond during a police reform house hearing on the house.
After Richmond spoke about the injustice the black man and his son face, Gaetz interjected and asked, "Are you suggesting that you are sure that none of us have non-white children? Because you're thinking about your black son and you couldn't understand one of us said. "
Richmond interrupted Gaetz and said: "I will not be distracted by the color of our children. We are talking about blacks on the streets who are killed and if one of them happens to be your child, I am also worried about him. And of course I'm more worried about him than you are. Let's make that clear. "
Gaetz yelled back, "You say you care more about my family than I do? Who the hell do you think you are? It's outrageous."
Shortly after Gaetz tweeted that Nestor was his son on Thursday, the hashtag #freenestor on Twitter began to trend, as several users without evidence indicated that Nestor had not agreed to the Congressman publishing photos of him.
Former California MP Katie Hill, who resigned from Congress last year, later raised the issue.
"Many of you know @mattgaetz and I have an unlikely friendship," tweeted Hill. "I can't stand many of his beliefs, but he was there for me when others didn't. He talks more about Nestor than anything else, has done so much for his son, and is really a proud father. This # greenestor- Thing is cops ---. Stop it. "
"Besides, he never 'hid' his son," continued Hill in a second tweet. "He tried to protect him from the crap that comes from being a politician's child, especially after what Nestor has been through, especially in this political climate. Now that Nestor has grown up, he has his own choice hit the limelight. Good for her. "
Jose Felix Diaz, executive vice president of political consultancy Ballard Partners, also tweeted about Gaetz's defense and wrote, "I see so many hateful comments about Matt Gaetz & Nestor. When this boy lost his mother, Matt was with his sister together and he went up. Plain and simple. He was an outstanding role model and mentor for Nestor and everyone who worked with Matt knows this great kid. "
