Footage revealed of Nick Jonas's brutal bike wreck on Olympics special
At the NBC Special Olympic Dreams Featuring Jonas Brothers on Wednesday, the sibling trio tried their hand at various Olympic sports under the guidance of world-class Olympic athletes such as Sydney McLaughlin, Sanya Richards-Ross, Laurie Hernandez and BMX rider Alise Willoughby. But even with that kind of expertise, Nick Jonas did not overturn once, but twice.
His first fall came during a hurdle race in athletics, but the youngest Jonas brother made it right back up and finished the race. In his second spill, which occurred during a BMX bike race on a dirt track, Nick lost control of his motorcycle quite early and managed to take out his two brothers Joe and Kevin in the wreck as well. And as the slow-motion playback would later show, Nick hit the ribs and bum pretty hard on the track. He was clearly in pain and was eventually loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.
As we learned in May when the special was being filmed, and while Nick was also working on The Voice, he suffered a broken rib.
"I always give 110% and sometimes the gold brings you gold," Nick said at a makeshift press conference for the show. “In this case, I got a broken rib, a bruised tailbone, and a hospital meal. But I am recovering. Thanks for asking, next question. "
