Ford moves Bronco reveal date from O.J. Simpson's birthday

As popular as the Ford Bronco has become in the years since it left the market and is eagerly awaited like the new Ford Bronco 2021, a specter hangs over the nameplate: that of O.J. Simpson, whose chase on television pierced the nation in 1994 in a second-generation white bronco and whose later acquittal in the murder trial against his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman horrified her. Simpson was later convicted of unlawful death in a civil suit.
Ford must have been deeply embarrassed when it was pointed out that the recently announced release date for the brand new Bronco, July 9, was the juice's birthday. The only date that could have been worse was June 17th, the date of the chase. Obviously, the date of July 9th was so embarrassing that Ford has now postponed the revelation to the O.J. Connection. The change was announced by Ford Communications Vice President Mark Truby on Twitter:
Ford would have preferred the O.J. not recognized. Connection at all and might have done so if this mistake hadn't been. Among the critics of the previous date were members of the United Auto Workers. Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, a representative from UAW Local 862 Ford asked Ford to add an element against domestic violence to the Bronco launch. At first, Ford resisted requests to move the date, and a spokesman said, "The date is purely coincidental." Now Ford may be able to go beyond the controversy.
