Ford Mustang Mach 1 Is Back for 2021 with 480 HP, Aggressive Aero

From the car and driver
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is back after 17 years with some improvements over the more powerful Shelby GT350 and GT500.
The new Mach 1 is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 with 480 hp and a standard six-speed manual transmission in the Shelby GT350, although a 10-speed automatic with shift paddles is available.
The Mach 1 will arrive at dealerships in spring 2021 with an expected starting price of around $ 50,000.
If cars could reproduce and the Ford Mustang Bullitt and high-performance Shelby variants come together and start a little Marvin Gaye, the result would be the new Mach 1 Mustang. After a 17-year hiatus, the Mach 1 is back and is powered by a more powerful 5.0-liter V-8 with 480 hp. It has the same ivory white cue ball shifter as the Bullitt (if you choose #SaveTheManuals). and is equipped with all possible track upgrades of the Shelby GT350 and GT500.

On the Mach 1, the 5.0-liter V-8 delivers 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque - the same power as the Bullitt inspired by Steve McQueen - and comes standard with the Shelby GT350's six-speed manual transmission. now with speed adjustment, although a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle switches is available. During the car and driver tests, the only manual Bullitt started in 4.3 seconds at 60 mph and raced through the quarter mile at 115 mph in 12.6 seconds. The best part is that manually-equipped Mach 1 are equipped with the same white play button as the Bullitt - a favorite of the C / D staff.
The Mach 1's 5.0-liter V-8 also gets some goodies from the Shelby GT350, including the intake manifold, oil filter adapter, and engine oil cooler. The Mach 1 also has the GT350's front and rear subframes with stiffer bushings. The 760 hp Shelby GT500 also offers several advantages, including the rear axle cooling system, the rear toe link and the rear diffuser. Four new 4.5-inch exhaust tips protrude from the rear. Better still, magnetorheological dampers are standard on the Mach 1.
The Mach 1's lower front vents also come from the Shelby GT350. The driver's side cools the 5.0 liter engine while the passenger's side cools the transmission. In addition, there are parking and turn signal bulbs stripped from the GT350 as well as two large inlets in the radiator grille, which cool the engine and the transmission oil. Between the air holes is the pony badge, which is made of a low-gloss silver called Magnetic. Mach 1 badges adorn the front fenders and the rear trunk lid.
The standard Mach 1 drives on 19-inch five-spoke wheels made of painted, dark-painted aluminum, which pay tribute to the classic Magnum 500 wheels from Mach 1s from old times and are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber. The Mach 1 has seven exterior colors: Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red and Grabber Yellow. The satin black vinyl side and hood stripes can be kept in either red or white.
Ford offers an appearance package for the new Mach 1, which is only available in Fighter Jet Gray and has a lot of orange accents. These satin black side and hood stripes have an exclusive orange look, the Brembo brakes are orange and the seats have an orange bar on the back. In our opinion, gray and orange go best with the fully equipped handling package.

Wannabe Carroll Shelbys, who want the most aggressive and powerful Mach 1, can opt for the only manual handling package that includes exclusive offset 10.5 / 11-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires , adjustable front strut mounts and a front splitter with even higher downforce and a swiveling rear spoiler with Gurney flap from the GT500. Ford claims that the upgrades to the handling package, along with the Mach 1's new underpan, which is 20 inches longer than the Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 1 pan, give the Mach 1 150 percent more downforce than the PPL1 Mustangs.
The limited 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 will arrive at dealerships in spring 2021 and have an estimated starting price of around $ 50,000. When asked whether Ford will discontinue the Mustang Bullitt and replace it with the Mach 1, a Ford spokesman told C / D that "no full details of the Mustang lineup for model year 21 are currently being released."
