Former 5-star USC linebacker Palaie Gaoteote appears to now have name in Ohio State student directory
Well what do we have here? Thanks to a little bit of detective work, it seems like former USC linebacker Palaie Gaoteote is now showing up on the Ohio State student directory. The discovery appears to have been made first by Buckeye Scoop.
For weeks it had been assumed that Ohio State was in the running for the former five-star talent. After Tennessee linebacker Henry To’o To’o spurned OSU for Alabama through the transfer portal, it was said on the street that the Buckeyes were beginning to stagger Gaoteote to switch to the Buckeye program. Gaoteote posted his name on the transfer portal last December and was believed to lean towards Texas before the state of Ohio aggressively stepped into the picture.
If the literal writing in the OSU student directory is correct, Gaoteote would provide some experience and talent to a very young linebacking corps in the coming season. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 250-pound junior from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas didn't quite live up to the promise of his recruiting awards, but he was still a solid starter in the second-line of defense for the Trojans.
We must emphasize that there has not been any official notice from Ohio State of the Gaoteote transfer, but we will consider it as soon as something more specific becomes available.
