Former NBA Star Tony Parker’s Newest Home Is a 115-Foot Expedition Superyacht Primed for Adventure
As a four-time NBA world champion, Tony Parker is used to setting a goal and achieving it. Now the former NBA star has the ocean firmly in his sights by investing in his first superyacht. Infinity Nine is slated for completion next March and is named after the number 9 on its Spurs jersey.
With a length of 30 meters, Infinity Nine is a large ship for every novice sailor. The boat is currently being built at AvA Yachts in Turkey and is the second hull of the Explorer yachts of the Kando110 series from this shipyard. An extended swim platform at the stern provides easy access to the water, while a 312-square-meter high beam master with floor-to-ceiling windows offers a panoramic window to the sea.
During 18 years with the San Antonio Spurs, Parker made six All-Star teams, won four titles, and was the 2007 MVP in the final. Since retiring in November 2019, the world has become his oyster, and Parker has set out to customize his yacht to make this next adventure possible.
The retired guard has made several visits to the shipyard to follow the construction progress of the yacht. According to AvA, Parker has chosen to use “radical interior styles” that “really make the Infinity Nine stand out”. All details are yet to be released, but they include flat, polished automatic sliding doors with stainless steel frames in the lounge and master suite on the main deck, and a hot tub on the large, partially covered flybridge.
Ample outdoor seating, lounge chairs on all decks, and five double cabins make this a boat that truly turns into an all-star retirement, with plenty of room for friends and family. A beach club and gym on the upper deck mean the former athlete can still work out in comfort and style.
The steel hull and the aluminum superstructure were designed and constructed in-house by the Antalya shipyard and have now been completed. The four-story yacht has a range of 6,500 nautical miles for unlimited cruising in the Gulf of Mexico, just a short flight from Parker's home in San Antonio, Texas. As someone who grew up in France and is the current president of the ASVEL basketball club there, Parker will no doubt experience the Mediterranean Côte d'Azur aboard his new yacht.
Infinity Nine's top speed has not yet been announced. Given the big extras beyond the Volvo Penta diesel engines, including bow thrusters, fin stabilizers and advanced electronics, it is clear that the yacht will be a blast in terms of comfort and performance when it is delivered next year.
