Former Steeler Ryan Clark says what we are all thinking about the Steelers defense
Last season the Pittsburgh Steelers defense had a pathetic attack on an 8-8 record. Unless there is a complete breakdown from offense in the last three games of the season, this team is likely to make the playoffs.
But this season the vaunted Steelers defense was not as consistent and caught the attention of a former Steelers security. Ryan Clark went to Twitter and was basically saying what many of us were thinking. That defense has taken a step back.
As a run defense, the Steelers were elite. On Sunday, the Steelers allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to run back Miles Sanders, abandoning a 74-yard touchdown run. Otherwise he hurried six meters with 10 porters.
It's the pass defense that we find suspicious. This group relies so heavily on the pass rush that it is to their own detriment. Few teams get quarterback better than Pittsburgh, but there will be times when they can't and in those cases, people like Joe Haden and Minkah Fitzpatrick have to move up.
But let me ask you, Steeler Nation. Are you worried about the defense or is this just a product of the unusual off-season? Let us know in the comments.
