Fox News host Chris Wallace interviewed Trump campaign surrogate mother Lara Trump on Sunday about the first family's decision not to wear masks during the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Wallace began his interview with the president's daughter-in-law by asking if a White House rose garden gathering was a "super-spreader event" for Supreme Court candidate Amy Coney Barrett.
“People were full, almost no masks, and Dr. Fauci said the event was a super spreader,” explained Wallace. "Why did the President need COVID for the White House to take CDC security guidelines seriously, even though they still violated some yesterday?"
Trump argued that "most, if not all" of the Rosengarten event participants had been previously tested.

"And you never hear on the other side of the coin, Chris, that in this country we have had these demonstrations across America since the height of the COVID days," said Trump. "But after these things, you never hear a concern that these are super-spreader events. I haven't heard a doctor say anything about it."
"It doesn't seem like coronavirus has a political agenda, but it often feels like it," she added. "The White House has always followed guidelines."
"I understand your point of view on the protests," urged Wallace. "But that doesn't make what happened at the White House - what Tony Fauci calls a super-spreader - that at least eight people later got the virus at that event, including the president and the first lady."
The Fox News host asked the campaign replacement why the Trump family refused to wear masks during the first presidential debate.
"You took them all off," Wallace recalled. "Did you think, Lara, that the rules that apply to everyone else in this hall don't apply to you?"
"Well, of course we didn't think so!" Trump insisted. "I want to be very clear. Nobody from the Cleveland Clinic has ever shown up and asked a member of our family to put on a mask. So that's completely wrong."
"Everyone in this hall had tested negative," said Wallace. "And the fact is, the rules were everyone but the president, the vice president, and me to wear masks, and it was the pool report - I'm not just doing it - the pool report says a member of the Cleveland Clinic - actually there is a video - comes up to someone in the presidential party and says you want masks and they waved them away.
