Fyre Festival founder breaks silence in first TV interview from jail: 'I knowingly lied to them'

On Wednesday's The Con: Fyre Festival by ABC, which focused on the disastrous 2017 music festival and its founder Billy McFarland, the shameful promoter finally broke the silence from his prison cell in his first television interview since he was sentenced to six years in prison.
"When I think about the mistakes that were made and what happened, I just can't describe it any other way than what the hell I was thinking? And I think that goes for so many people about so many decisions that I made "said McFarland.
Promoted as a luxury music festival on the Bahamian island of Exuma featuring musicians like Blink-182 and Migos and promoted by supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, the Fyre Festival, which was advertised as a luxury music festival on the Bahamian island of Exuma in 2017, was an epic failure, customers gave thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars for luxury accommodations and gourmet dining only to be faced with emergency disaster tents, wet mattresses, and of course the infamous cheese sandwich that broke the internet.
In 2018, McFarland pleaded guilty to scamming investors and apologized for his role in the scam.
During the episode that recorded the filming of the new Dumpster Fyre podcast, which McFarland currently owns 50% of the time, McFarland admitted lying to investors in order to cheat them out of $ 26 million, as he said: " I knowingly lied to them to raise money for the festival, yes. "McFarland also explained exactly how he did it.
"What I did was increase the numbers of our company. How much money we had, how much money we made to raise total money. I was trying to justify myself. Well, you know, everyone has access to my bank account. " You all know what's going on. And just give us more money. We'll make it, we all know what's going to happen. But in reality, they didn't understand what was going on in my head, "said McFarland.
While McFarland is currently held in Ohio federal prison for two more years, the shameful scammer has revealed that his greatest regret is lying to people who trust him.
The Con is broadcast on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.

Nick Jonas touched by the "spiritual" audition of the candidate "The Voice"
On Tuesday's second night of The Voice's Season 20 blind auditions, all four coaches faced each other in the only four-chair round of the night - 21-year-old candidate Zae Romeo. Before Zae's audition, Nick Jonas had a hard time catching another team member, especially when Blake Shelton stopped him from the first candidate of the night. Everything turned around for the JoBro, however, when Zae, whose heartbreaking backstory, grew up in the foster system and eventually ran away from home after he and his siblings were adopted, greeted the trainers and viewers with his cover of "Falling" by Harry Styles. "That was spiritual," Nick said to Zae. "The way you approach the top of your register, the vulnerability of the softer moments. The performance was phenomenal and really touched me. So, please, please, please come to Team Nick." While Nick, Blake, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend had a good fight, Zae ended up choosing Team Nick. "After a few heartbreak, it was nice to get that four-chair turn. My team is taking shape in the most incredible ways because I couldn't have planned all of these really different voices and genres that we would use." explained Nick.
