‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Is Unrecognizable in First Look of His ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 Character (Photo)
Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju will be part of the cast for season two of Netflix's medieval-inspired fantasy "The Witcher" this December, but he looks very different on this show.
Hivju is said to appear as Nivellen, a gang leader, in the first episode of the season. In the books, Nivellen rapes a woman during a robbery who turns out to be the priestess of Coram Agh Tera, the cult of the lion head spider. Before committing suicide, she curses Nivellen to become a "monster inside a monster" instead of the "monster inside a man" he already was.
And thanks to "The Witcher" star Henry Cavill, fans get a glimpse of some of the crazy details that went into creating this monster.
"Kristofer was exceptionally brave for Season 2 of The Witcher and chose to play his character Nivellen with no makeup or visual effects, as you can see above," joked Cavill on Instagram. "Kristofer, we are all so proud."
Here is the official description for Season 2 of "The Witcher", which suffered several COVID-related production delays: Convinced Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) was lost in the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings on Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) safest place he knows, his childhood home from Kaer Morhen. While the kings, elves, humans and demons of the continent seek supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she wields inside.
Recurring cast members for Season 2 of "The Witcher" include Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Tom Canton, Lilly Cooper, Jeremy Crawford, Eamon Farren, Mahesh Jadu, Terence Maynard, Lars Mikkelsen, Mimî M Khayisa, Royce Pierreson, Wilson Mbomio, Anna Shaffer, and Therica Wilson-Read.
This season with Hivju Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Born as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Liz Carr as Fenn, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle as Ba'lian, Simon Callow as Codringher and Chris Fulton as Rience.
