Star Trek alum George Takei said none of the cast got along with William Shatner.
Takei played Hikaru Sulu in the original series alongside Shatner's Captain James T. Kirk.
The actor referred to Shatner as the "prima donna" of the cast.
Of all the actors on Star Trek: The Original Series, George Takei is arguably one of Starship Enterprise's most popular alumni thanks to his vibrant online presence and activism for the LGBTQ+ community.
And the 85-year-old star's career shows no signs of slowing down as he is currently set to star in the UK production of Allegiance, which is based on his time in US internment camps for Japanese-American families during World War II.
Takei recently spoke to the Guardian ahead of the play, opening up about his life and career and briefly mentioning his ongoing feud with Star Trek co-star William Shatner.
The actor was asked if the original cast had a great camaraderie on set, and he said they were all close except for one.
Takei said, "Yes. Yes. YES. Except for one who was a prima donna. But the rest of us shared a great camaraderie."
Takei went on to say that "none of us" got along working with Shatner, noting that the actor's ego got in the way of his relationship with everyone.
He added: "He was self-centered. He enjoyed being the center of attention. He wanted everyone to bow to him.”
However, Takei also pointed out that Shatner believes he is only discussing their feud to get free publicity out of him and only wants to promote his own work.
He explained: "I know he came to London to promote his book and spoke about wanting me to use his name to promote it. So I decided that I don't need his name to advertise. I have much broader issues that I'd like to get promoted, so I won't be referring to Bill at all in this interview."
However, the actor was also aware that by even mentioning Shatner, he was fueling the fire.
Takei added, "Although I just did. He's just a quarrelsome old man and I'll leave him to his own devices. I won't play his game."
