Geraldo rips Trump for taking vacation while COVID bill unresolved: 'We needed some leadership here'
Geraldo Rivera slapped President Trump on the trip to Mar-a-Lago on Wednesday evening while the COVID relief bill remains pending. Congress passed the bill Tuesday night after months of deliberation, and Trump almost immediately said he would not sign it and called for major stimulus checks. If no action is taken on the bill, the government will close early next week and millions will lose unemployment benefits.
House spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi quickly agreed to Trump's call for major stimulus checks at a rare moment when Trump and Pelosi are on the same side of an issue. The Republicans, however, have largely remained silent. With so much uncertainty about the COVID relief bill and so much at stake, Rivera wondered what would happen next.
"What should you do now?" Asked Rivera. "He's going to Mar-a-Lago. Will Nancy Pelosi meet with Mitch McConnell now? Will they get together, get a plan? What will the Americans do? We're drifting now."
