Germany's gymnasts have just taken a stand against the sexualization of sport by wearing suits instead of traditional bikini jerseys at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
During a team qualifying round on Sunday, the athletes competed in uniforms with a white and blue crystal embellished bodice and maroon ankle-length leggings.
"We wanted to show that every woman, everyone should decide for themselves what to wear," said the German gymnast Elisabeth Seitz on Friday the Washington Post.

Her teammate Sarah Voss explained: “We girls had a big influence on it. The coaches were also very involved. They said they definitely want us to be most confident and comfortable. You just feel better and more comfortable. "

Many viewers supported their choice on Twitter, with one user saying "Good for Her" and another adding, "If men can wear full, women can too."
The decision was made after some members of the German women's gymnastics team had already decided on similar full-body suits at the European Gymnastics Championships in Basel, Switzerland, in April.

According to reports, the Deutsche Turn-Bund (DTB) said the outfit change - which Voss began, followed by her teammates Seitz and Kim Bui - was done to take a stand against sexualization in sport.

"We hope that gymnasts who are uncomfortable in the usual outfits feel encouraged to follow our example," Voss told the BBC at the time.
Bui first appeared in a qualifying round shirt, according to the BBC. But after Voss debuted a full body suit, Bui and Seitz swapped outfits for the women's all-around final two days later.
The differences between men's and women's sports uniforms have become a hot topic lately, most recently in the case of the Norwegian handball team, which was fined for playing in shorts instead of mandatory bikini bottoms. The punishment attracted international attention, with singer Pink even offering to pay the fine.
