Giannis Antetokounmpo gave Warriors’ James Wiseman his ‘NBA moment’
The task of protecting Giannis Antetokounmpo is often described as impossible due to his size, his sportiness and his chance to score. Golden State Warriors freshman James Wiseman saw this firsthand in his second game on Friday.
Wiseman scored 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a 138-99 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day. He was found to be one of the few bright spots in defeat as the Warriors fell as much as 43 points in the fourth quarter.
The 19-year-old showed his versatility on both ends of the floor but was also tasked with guarding Antetokounmpo. He was matched a couple of times on Antetokounmpo and even found himself with the incumbent MVP who came straight up to him.
Unsurprisingly, this was his "welcome to the NBA moment" on the piece.
Despite the Warriors' struggles to get the season started, Wiseman looked great as he missed the start of training camp and didn't play in the preseason. He then said that the game was slowly slowing down for him and that he was more comfortable on the pitch, an encouraging sign for the warriors.
Fortunately, Wiseman won't see Antetokounmpo on the pitch too often ...
