We spied on the upcoming 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz unibody pickup that is testing its towing capabilities.
Hyundai's first pickup is expected to use the 2.4-liter and 2.0-liter inline four of the SUV in Santa Fe, coupled with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
Prices are expected to start around $ 25,000 and arrive in the US sometime next year.
The 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz Unibody Pickup is getting closer to reality and will arrive next year. After being unveiled as a concept at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 and announcing that it would be built with the mid-size Santa Fe SUV in Alabama, we were excited to see what the Korean automaker's first foray into the pickup segment will look like .

Hyundai clearly tests the towing capabilities of the unibody pickup here. And although we don't know the truck's maximum trailer load and payload, we expect it to be lower than competitors like the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger, but similar to the Honda Ridgeline, which is the only other unibody pickup on the US -Market and can haul up to 5000 pounds.
For the powertrains of the Santa Cruz, we expect the 2.4-liter and 2.0-liter in-line quad with turbocharger from the Santa Fe, paired with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
We also take a closer look at Santa Cruz's behavior. At the front is a jagged, wide grid pattern that is reminiscent of a pattern from the updated Santa Fe 2021, which has a few different patterns depending on the trim level - although it looks much wider than we expected and conjured up in previous renderings. At the top, the grille narrows and rinses into some elegant LED headlights. It will definitely have an attractive face. All in all, the Santa Cruz is developing into an interesting "lifestyle" truck.
The new Hyundai pickup should be available with a single bed length and a four-door crew cabin and is expected to reach dealers sometime in 2021 with a starting price of around $ 25,000.
