GOP Gov. Candidate Amanda Chase Says Derek Chauvin Conviction ‘Makes Me Sick'

Amanda Chase, a Virginia GOP gubernatorial candidate, received widespread criticism this week for declaring that the conviction of former police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd "makes me sick".
"Today's verdict is making me sick. I'm so concerned about our prosecution about to end. And so should you," said Chase, a Virginia state senator who calls herself "Branding" and "Trump in Heels." referred to the Republicans at a meeting in King William County on Tuesday.
The footage of Chase's comments was shared on Facebook:
Chase's comments - shortly after a jury found Chauvin guilty of two murders and one manslaughter - were deemed "racist and dangerous" by Virginia Democratic Party spokesman Manuel Bonder.
The video of Chauvin holding his knee against Floyd's neck for more than 9 minutes was central to the case against the former Minneapolis cop.
However, Chase later doubled her alleged fear by explaining.
"I am concerned that the decision was politically motivated to prevent civil unrest rather than serve justice," she told The Progress Index, claiming the decision "sends a clear message to law enforcement agencies; the judicial system doesn't have one Move. "
Elsewhere in her address on Tuesday, Chase said that if elected, her first action would be to remove the state's mask mandate, which aims to curb the spread of COVID-19 - contrary to public health advice .
Chase also defended ex-President Donald Trump's lie that his 2020 election was stolen and took part in the Stop the Steal rally on Jan. 6.
