GOP Group’s COVID Conga Line Inside New York Restaurant Goes Viral

A Republican group in Queens, New York held an indoor maskless Christmas party and videos have surfaced
The Whitestone Republican Club, based in Queens, New York, hosted a maskless indoor party at a restaurant in town earlier this month. The video of the group doing a maskless conga line has surfaced on the internet.
The Washington Post reports that despite nationwide rules prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people, the Christmas party hosted at least 50 guests indoors. But, as we've learned all year round, people continue to host these super-spreader events because they interpret these "rules" as mere suggestions.
The restaurant took place at Il Bacco, an Italian restaurant in Queens, New York that sued New York State this summer for not allowing them to dine indoors. The party took place on December 9, 2020, a few days before New York Governor Andrew Cuomo closed indoor dining in New York again.
Vickie Paladino, a GOP nominee for New York City Council in District 19 of Queens, was spotted among the parties, a divisive figure. She wrote about the party, saying the event attendees could do what they wanted because they were not the "masked police".
After the Christmas party video went viral, the Whitestone Republican Club posted a statement on Facebook telling everyone in attendance to wear a mask, but felt it was important to get out of a choice so emotional that we kind of Hold a gathering to ring in the holidays. “And even though 50 people were seen at the conga inside without a mask, the owner of the restaurant said," This party absolutely did not violate the state's COVID mandates "and uhh okay?
The Whitestone Republican Club even shared a video from the party on Facebook and no one can be seen wearing a mask while an opera singer (even without a mask) performs just inches away from the crowd.
In a conference call with reporters on December 22, 2020 (via Syracuse News), Cuomo simply shook his head at the event and said, "Covid Conga lines are not smart," which roughly translates to "I don't know man, I give up" means.
Mayor de Blasio told NY1, “Anyone who breaks government rules will be dealt with. We have put really heavy fines on people who organize events or host events so I am sure the sheriff and other city agencies will follow up. "
It is not yet clear whether the GOP group or the restaurant concerned have been fined.
