Go over there Hawkeye, there's a brand new archer in town. Disney +’s Hawkeye is one of the streamer’s most anticipated shows slated for later this year - and not just because there’s a certain Avenger. Hailee Steinfeld jumps into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, protégé of Clint Barton alias Hawkeye. And as if that wasn't enough to wow you, she even has a cute, fluffy companion called Lucky the Pizza Dog that will definitely steal your heart.
If you've just finished watching Black Widow then you certainly have questions about this post-credits scene. However, if you haven't seen Black Widow yet, this is your sign to go back and watch unless you are prepared for spoilers. Hardcore Marvel Comics fans already know that Kate's introduction will change a lot of things in the future, but how is Hawkeye going to shake things up? And when will it finally be on the small screen?
Here's what you should know about Hawkeye from Disney +.
What is Hawkeye about? And why is there a new Hawkeye?
If you're not a fan of the Marvel Comics series, you might be surprised to find another Hawkeye on the scene. Kate trains under Clint to take on the coat. The Disney + show takes place after Avengers: Endgame and will continue to show Clint as a Ronin. But since he's taking on a new role, it makes sense for Kate to take over the reins.
"[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she's a huge Hawkeye fan," Renner told Entertainment Weekly. "She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming nature about being such a Hawkeye fangirl. The relationship grows out of it, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems she brings into his life."
EW also released the series' first official look, showing Kate and Hawkeye together, and it looks like things are getting intense between the two archers.
There's also the Young Avengers, a new group of superheroes linked to some of our older favorites. Evidence of them joining the MCU has been around since WandaVision (remember Billy and Tommy?)
Unfortunately, Marvel hasn't shared any other big details about what to expect. Hopefully we will learn more as we get closer to the show's big release!
Who else is in Hawkeye?
It wouldn't be a Marvel TV series without a stellar cast. As Black Widow fans can probably guess from this post-credits scene, Florence Pugh will be back as Yelena.

Scream Queen Vera Farmiga also joins the Marvel family as Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mother.

Tony Dalton will bring to life Jack Duquesne, known in Marvel Comics as Jacques Duquesne aka Swordsman.

Newcomer Alaqua Cox plays Maya Lopez / Echo, a deaf Indian who can perfectly imitate the movements of each individual. After Hawkeye, she also gets her own spin-off series.
Maya's father, William Lopez, is played by Zahn McClarnon.
