Here’s What Rides Will Be Running When Disneyland Reopens

After being closed for over a year, the Disneyland Resort appears to be reopening soon. The park has not reached the April 1st date the earliest California allowed them to open. Instead, they will reopen on April 30th with limited capacity and limited attractions (see the full list of attractions open below). The news of a possible reopening came direct from Disney CEO Bob Chapek during a March 9 investor call (via Deadline), and on March 17, Chapek appeared on CNBC stating that Disneyland will reopen on April 30th. This global pandemic is the longest in existence. Disneyland has remained closed in its annual history. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure were closed on March 14, 2020.
When Disneyland reopens, it will initially be restricted to California residents only (per California reopening guidelines). You will manage the capacity with a reservation system. Over 10,000 employees on leave will return to work after retraining in accordance with the new COVID-19 guidelines. The Disney Parks News official Twitter account posted a statement that you can read in full above. And if you're wondering about the new Avengers campus, it's not ready to reopen. Chapek said the new area in California Adventure will open "later this year."

And don't expect shows, parades, or characters to meet and greet for some time, either. According to Chapek, "the number of actual shows we can have is severely limited due to social distancing." Fireworks and World of Color are unlikely to go into the future for the time being either. Pretty much anything that invites crowds to gather shoulder to shoulder will be outside. Full details can be found on the Disney Parks Blog.
And while it's fantastic to have 10,000 employees getting their jobs back soon, we hope Disneyland ensures that all cast members are fully vaccinated first.
