Herschel Walker says he’s ‘glad’ anti-Trump GOP group used his ex-wife’s graphic comments in new ad

FIRST ON FOX: Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker of Georgia says he's "glad" that a group of Republican activists opposed to Donald Trump and some of the candidates the former president is backing this election cycle announced a new Monday Posted an ad with graphic comments from Walker's ex-wife describing how he choked her and threatened to shoot her during their marriage.
"My opponents launched a dirty attack meter. They dug up an old video and took it out of context," argues Walker in a new video released Wednesday and first shared with Fox News. "My opponents think they're hurting me - but I'm glad they made that ad."
The Republican Accountability PAC spot includes a clip of an old interview with Walker's ex-wife, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, which says, "He put the gun to my temple and said he was going to blow my brains out."

WALKER, WARNOCK, TRADE FIRE IN BATTLE FOR GEORGIA SENATE SHOWDOWN DEBATES
Walker wrote a book in 2008 highlighting his diagnosis and struggle with dissociative personality disorder. And he has long said he is "responsible" for his past violence towards his ex-wife. He also states that he used to have intense thoughts about harming himself and others, and also said he has as many as a dozen alternate identities.
FIRST ON FOX: WALKER SAYS HE CAN TAKE THE HITS FROM WARNOCK AND DEMOCRATS
In his video, Walker emphasizes that "my ex-wife, Cindy, and I are good friends — along with her husband and my wife. And I'm thankful for all the support Cindy gave me during the hardest time of my life. I volunteered back then to save lives, save marriages — to help other people."
And Walker appears to be targeting his opponent in November's election, incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, in his video.
Although there appear to be no connections between Warnock's campaign and the new ad, Walker charged that "my opponents don't care about the truth. The fact is, Sen. Warnock cannot speak of achievements. He failed Georgia. So he and his friends will lie and deceive."
WARNOCK IS DESIGNED TO MAKE WALKER HIS OWN WORST ENEMY
Republican Accountability PAC said it will spend $1 million to target Walker in Georgia and plans to spend eight figures in six key battleground states to defeat Republican candidates backed by the former president, Trump's unproven Supporting claims that Biden lost his 2020 election to the president was due to massive voter fraud.
"Herschel Walker may have been a great football player, but he clearly didn't deserve to be a senator," said Sarah Longwell, the group's treasurer. "Therefore, our campaign is based on the votes of Georgia Republicans who know he is unfit for office."

Walker, who won a Heisman Trophy four decades ago and helped lead the University of Georgia to a national college football championship, stepped into the GOP race last summer to face Warnock after months of endorsement from the former president and had been encouraged to run for the Senate by Donald Trump, his longtime friend.
WARNOCK IS DESIGNED TO MAKE WALKER HIS OWN WORST ENEMY
Thanks to his legendary status among many in Georgia and his immense, benevolent notoriety in the Peach State, Walker instantly became the overwhelming front-runner for the GOP Senate nomination, essentially ignoring the field's lesser-known key contenders and declining to participate in debates when he focused his campaign on Warnock.
Walker beat his rivals in the May primary. But Republican strategists remain concerned that Walker is unprepared for the incoming fire he's now receiving during the general election campaign.
Walker has been attacked by the Warnock campaign and associated Democrat groups for his "bizarre or false statements". And he's also been targeted for numerous reports that he's exaggerated the success of his business and academic achievements, and has defended himself in a range of personal controversies - from allegations of past abuse and threats against his first wife to to allegations of violence alleged by two other women — which he denies — acknowledging children he fathered out of wedlock, whom he had previously failed to publicly mention despite criticizing decades-absent fathers.

Republicans see Warnock -- the senior pastor at Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. used to preach and where GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler defeated by a razor-thin margin to take the seat a year and a half ago -- as very vulnerable, as he is running for re-election for a full six-year term.
But Warnock has dramatically outperformed Walker to date, holding a mid-single-digit lead over his GOP challenger in the latest opinion polls, including a four-point lead in a recent Fox News poll. The Showdown is one of a handful of races in battleground states to see if the GOP regains majority in the chamber during the interim periods in November.
