Hilarie Burton Reveals Touching Tattoo She Got to Honor Willie Garson Before His Death
Hilarie Burton shares the special way she will honor Willie Garson forever.
Less than a day after the Sex and the City actor's unexpected death at the age of 57, Hilarie took to Instagram to pay an emotional tribute to her longtime friend and former white collar co-star.
"My phone didn't stop," the One Tree Hill actress began captioning on September 22nd. "Friends. Colleagues. Total strangers. The world knows that @willie.garson has been a central player in my life."
Before the actor's death, Hilarie announced that she had dedicated a tattoo to Willie and one of his most adorable phrases: Calm down.
"He would give you the biggest compliment in the world," she explained. “Tell yourself that you were the smartest, or the prettiest, or the most talented, or that your book / show / recipe / charity, etc., was important and valuable. '"

She continued, “And then laughter. He would stop you before you can reject the compliment. Chill out.
Hilarie said she received Willie's blessing to color the printout on her forearm.
"Before I went to see him, he needed to know how I was feeling," she said. “And @hudsonvalleytattooco was so kind and understanding and caught me the night before my flight. I wanted Willie to know that I would carry this 'reassurance' around with me forever. "
The actress also recalled the touching gift Willie gave her and Jeffrey Dean Morgan after they tied the knot in October 2019.
“I cried when Willie sent Jeffrey and me a wedding present. A first edition of Grapes of Wrath, ”Hilarie wrote alongside a letter Willie wrote. "Part of the note he added is shown here (the rest is ours. And we are incredibly dear.) But I'm adding it because it exemplifies a quality of Willie that I loved."
Hilarie expressed that she and her husband are "devastated" by the loss of the SATC star.
The actress hopes to keep his memory alive by making his last dream come true. She explained that Willie had been "playing with an idea for a book" for quite some time and he recently finished it.
"He wrote the book. And recently he asked if I would help his family get it published for his son Nathen," Hilarie explained. "It's a love letter to our industry, to storytelling, and to the hundreds of people he has worked with and made better over the decades."
She concluded, “To Willie's family, especially @nathen_garson ... to my credit, I'll pull it off. You have been so generous to share it with the rest of us.
