Homeland Security Chief Alejandro Mayorkas Tells ‘Fox News Sunday’ 12,000 Haitian Migrants Released Into US

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told Fox News today, Sunday, that an estimated 12,000 Haitian migrants have been released to the United States. The astonishing number goes well beyond previous estimates related to the Del Rio, Texas, bridge bearing.
Mayorkas also said his estimate of 12,000 could rise as 5,000 other cases are still being processed. These numbers show that previous reports about 15,000 people in the camp were incorrect.

"About, I think it's about 10,000 or so - 12,000,000," Mayorka told Fox News Sunday when asked about the numbers. It could be even higher, ”he added. “The number that is returned could be even higher. What we're doing is obey the law as passed by Congress. "
The Del Rio camp has been evacuated by migrants and the Del Rio border crossing has reopened. But even more migrants are on the way, as pictures on Sunday show caravans from Central America on the way.
Mayorkas said migration was "nothing new" but blamed immigration laws for the problem. "11 million people in this country with no legal presence are compelling reasons for there to be consensus that our immigration system is broken and that legal reform is needed," Mayorkas said.
