It's part of a new program called Walmart + Rx for less that offers Walmart + customers exclusive savings on thousands of the most commonly prescribed drugs.
The program covers a wide range of prescriptions and helps you save money on common medications for a wide variety of health problems, including treatments for heart health, mental health, antibiotics, allergies, and diabetes management. If you're already a Walmart + member, you now have access to some free drugs and tons of other prescription drugs with discounts of up to 85 percent at 4,000 participating Walmart pharmacies.
Just a note: this is not available in all states and cannot be combined with insurance. So it doesn't hurt to check with your local Walmart first to see what the final cost will be to you. Also, the state of California doesn't support free drugs, so heavily discounted drugs are only $ 2.
Which drugs are free? The diabetes drug metformin, the antidepressant escitalopram, and the high blood pressure drugs lisinopril and amlodipine, to name a few.
Basically, you save time and money when you sign up.
Walmart + Rx for less is intended for Walmart + users only, so you'll need to sign up to save. Not a member yet? The retail giant's free same-day delivery service brings fresh products and loads of other items (batteries! Pet supplies!) Straight to your home.

You can sign up for a 15-day risk-free trial and even get two extra weeks of free if you answer a quick three-question survey. After the 30 days are up, you can resume service for $ 13 per month or $ 98 per year. Warning: You will not be able to enjoy prescription drug perks until you become a paying member.
The annual fee is similar to Amazon Prime, but unlike Prime, you can have things like fresh greens and other must-haves delivered to your door ASAP.
Rx for less also includes these benefits that are already available to Walmart + members:
Unlimited free delivery from stores. Get items for the same price you'd pay in the store the same day you order 160,000+ items, from fresh groceries and household items to tech and toys.
No shipping minimum for online orders. Walmart + members also receive free next-day and two-day shipping for items shipped from the retailer, regardless of the total. (Everyone else must spend at least $ 35 on goods to receive this benefit.)
Scan mobile and get started. If you decide to shop in person, you can use the Walmart app to scan your items as you shop and pay with Walmart Pay for a fast, easy, and touchless payment experience.
Fuel discounts. The advantages are not only available at Walmart: You can save up to five cents per gallon of gas at almost 2,000 gas stations from Walmart, Sam’s Club, Murphy USA and Murphy Express.
With Walmart + Rx at a cheaper price, you never have to go to your local pharmacy again - and you can save money by simply signing up.
