How Gossip Girl 's Michelle Trachtenberg Tricked Fans Into Thinking She Was Engaged

Attention Upper East Siders: Michelle Trachtenberg has a new accessory on her ring finger - but it's not what you think.
The Gossip Girl alum, who played legendary Georgina Sparks on the popular CW series, appeared to announce their engagement early Friday, October 9th. "I picked the right one," the 34-year-old actress wrote alongside a photo of her beautiful diamond ring with a wink, a flash and ring emojis.
After the post was published, the Buffy star - who did not reveal her partner's identity - received a barrage of congratulations from commentators, including former co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who wrote, "My Baby." Tia Mowry sent a bunch of hearts, celebrity hairdresser Harry Josh posted a bunch of clapping emojis while another commenter referred to Michelle's beloved film, Harriet the Spy, and wrote, "Looks like Harriet has solved the biggest puzzle of all .. . LOVE. "
But it turned out that Michelle had a trick up her sleeve. She just wanted to grab the attention of fans and followers to get a message across about the vote. "Now that I have your attention," she later added to her caption, "I know @joebiden @kamalaharris and I will be very happy together. #Vote."
Even so, it didn't stop fans from thinking about their romantic story. Michelle has been linked to a few celebs over the years, including Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz as well as X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore.
Gossip Girl Cast: Where Are They Now?
Michelle's post comes just weeks after her former Gossip Girl co-star Jessica Szohr announced she's also starting a new chapter: motherhood. Along with her pregnancy reveal, Jessica wrote that she and boyfriend Brad Richardson are "full of joy".
