How to cancel your Amazon Prime account
Amazon's Prime Day (AMZN) is October 13th and 14th of this year, and the buying spree is expected to result in savings on large and small products. However, you must be an Amazon Prime member to receive these offers.
Thankfully, that doesn't mean you have to remain a Prime member starting October 15th. There is nothing wrong with signing up for Prime to take advantage of Amazon's bargains and cancel your subscription like a hot stone the next day.
It is important to note that if you cancel your account, you will not receive a refund if you have used the service for more than three days after signing up for a free trial. You are also not entitled to a refund if you use your Prime benefits after signing up.
You can also add multiple people to your Amazon account to share the benefits around your household. So if you want to log in and exit, you need to remind them of that. And if two people in your household have separate accounts, you may want to save money and get rid of one.
Or, you're a long-time Amazon subscriber who just isn't getting enough out of the service. In either case, there are two ways to cancel your Amazon account: through your desktop web browser and your Amazon app.
Yahoo Finance Newsletter.
Let's start with your web browser
Sign in to your Amazon account and hover your mouse pointer over the Account & Lists tab in the top right corner of the screen.
Select your primary membership from the drop-down menu.
Click on "Your Main Membership".
On the next page, you'll see all of the packages you've delivered through Amazon, your current subscription fee, the videos you've watched through Prime Video, and the songs you've heard through Amazon Music. It's all designed to make you feel like staying here.
Click the Manage Membership tab in the top right of the screen and select End Membership from the drop-down menu.
Select "End Membership" from the drop-down list.
On the next screen, Amazon will again show you how often you use Prime and what benefits the service offers. Ignore that and click End my membership at the bottom of the screen.
Click "End Membership" at the bottom of the screen.
If you have an annual subscription, Amazon will let you know that you have the option to switch to monthly payments.
Again, ignore this and click Next at the bottom of the screen to cancel.
Keep following the directions and you are definitely done with Amazon.
Cancel on your smartphone
You can also cancel your Amazon account using the Amazon app on your smartphone.
To do this, tap on the three horizontal bars in the lower right corner of the screen and select your account.
Tap on "Your Account".
Under Account Settings, select Manage Prime Membership and select Manage Membership at the top of the screen.
Select "Manage Membership".
Then select Manage Membership and tap the End Membership button.
Select "Manage Membership".
On the next page, scroll down, select "End my membership" and follow the instructions.
Tap "End Membership" and continue to follow the instructions to permanently cancel Prime.
After that, you are no longer an Amazon Prime user.
