'I had to change the channel': 'SNL' host Bill Burr divides fans after controversial opening monologue
Bill Burr did not hold back in his controversial opening monologue "Saturday Night Live".
The 52-year-old comedian, who wore gray face covering, hosted the second episode of the season and, with part of his monologue, criticized white women who "somehow hijacked the guard movement".
Burr described the "watch movement" as one that revolves around "people of color who don't get chances ... they deserve". It was unclear if he was specifically referring to the Black Lives Matter movement when George Floyd died after a white police officer knelt on his neck.
"Somehow, white women swung their Gucci boot feet over the fence of oppression and stuck themselves at the top of the line," Burr said.
He added that he "has never heard so many complaints from white women in my life".

"My life is so difficult. My SUV and my heated seats. You have no idea what it is like to be me," Burr continued.
Then he questioned the length of Pride Month in June and asked the audience if a month is "a little long, don't you think?"
Fans quickly took to Twitter, criticizing Burr for being insensitive to racism and LGBTQ pride in his monologue.
One user, Sushma, called it "the worst way" to address these issues.
Whoever told Bill Burr that he, a straight white man, should try to fight homophobia and racism as badly as possible in his Snl monologue

Others praised the comedian, and user Alaina Urquhart called his comments on white women "a perfect joke".
"I love that Bill Burr made a perfect joke about white women who made everything about us and then some white women on Twitter went insane thinking it was a mean joke. So. .. to prove his point, "she wrote.
Another user praised Burr for "telling the truth" about white women and their performative activism.
