Experienced British actor Ian Holm, star of Lord Of The Rings and alien, has died. He was 88 years old.
In a message to the Guardian, Holms agent said: “Actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88 with great sadness. He died peacefully in the hospital with his family and carer ... Charming, friendly and We are incredibly talented and will miss him very much. “He said that Holm's disease was related to Parkinson's.

Holm was an instantly recognizable face in the industry, which was regarded as skillful on stage and screen alike. He won a BAFTA and was Oscar-nominated for his role in the 1981 hit Chariots Of Fire, and calmly played Bilbo Baggins in the epic trilogy Lord Of The Rings and in Hobbit films.
One of his most famous appearances was the malfunction of Android Ash in Ridley Scott's alien. Scott said today: “I had such a good and fruitful time with Ian and my only regret was not to have worked with him again. Ian spoke to me quite a bit during production, which I found very helpful. A great talent and a great man - we will miss him. "
Holm was born in Essex, Great Britain, in 1931. He was outstanding on stage and played an important role in the Royal Shakespeare Company in his early career. In 1965 he won the Evening Standard Award for best actor for Henry V. He was also known for his work with Harold Pinter and a masterful King Lear in 1997.

The actor is survived by his fourth wife Sophie de Stempel and five children from previous relationships, as well as his third wife, the actress Penelope Wilton.
