If You Have This OTC Medicine, You Need to Check Your Bottle Immediately

Keeping medicines in your home can be a difficult task as you need to keep them away from children and pets. However, a popular over-the-counter medicine can pose an even greater safety risk, especially if you keep it in the wrong place. If you have Excedrin at home, be sure to check your bottle right away. Read on to find out why this medicine was recalled and for other important safety warnings: If you have this popular frozen meal at home, throw it away right away.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released a recall announcement for five Excedrin brands on December 23. The recall includes Excedrin migraine brackets, Excedrin migraine gels, Excedrin extra strength capsules, Excedrin PM headache capsules, and Excedrin tension headache capsules.
According to the announcement, GSK Consumer Healthcare has recalled these five brands for "failing to meet child-resistant packaging requirements." This is because some of the bottles can create holes in the bottom through which children can access and consume the contents, creating a risk of poisoning.

"These products contain the substances aspirin and paracetamol, which according to the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA) must be contained in child-resistant packaging," said the CPSC.
Almost 433,600 bottles were recalled and were available in various stores and pharmacies between March 2018 and September 2020. The recall affects 50, 80, 100, 125, 200, 250, and 300-count bottles of each of the five brands of Excedrin.
Although no injuries have been reported to date, GSK Consumer Healthcare urges consumers to immediately keep all recalled Excedrin bottles out of the sight and reach of children. You should then examine the bottom of your bottle for holes. If you find a hole in your bottle, you can contact the company for information on how to get a prepaid return label to return the item for a full refund.
