Immunologist Rips Trump For ‘Probably Most Deadly Piece Of Information I’ve Ever Heard'
President Donald Trump's message to Americans that they shouldn't live in fear of the coronavirus was condemned as "ruthless" and "fatal" by one of his administration's top former immunologists.
Trump, shortly before his release from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, where he had been hospitalized for three days to treat his COVID-19 infection, tweeted that people should not let the virus give theirs Life dominates.
Dr. Rick Bright slammed the president's message on CNN's "The Lead" on Thursday. “This is a deadly pandemic. This is a deadly virus, ”scientist Anker reminded Jake Tapper during a long interview.
"The message that President Trump conveyed to America and the world as he walked out of the hospital to fear this virus is probably the most ruthless and deadly information I have ever heard," argued Bright.
Bright was ousted from his role as director of the government's vaccine development agency for biomedical research and development in March after whistling off the Trump administration's initial mistreatment of the pandemic.
Bright moved to the National Institutes of Health, where he worked on the national coronavirus testing program. He resigned earlier this week in protest of the government's ongoing botched response to the crisis, which has now killed more than 210,000 people and made at least 7 million others sick across the country.
"Since the coronavirus outbreak began, the government's failure to respond with a coordinated strategy has only increased the threat," Bright wrote in a comment for the Washington Post. "Nine months after the pandemic, the United States continues to grapple with the failed White House leadership."
