Islamic State supporters are reportedly using Trumpworld social network GETTR as a 'safe haven' for extremism

GETTR, the newly launched social network promoting freedom of expression founded by members of former President Donald Trump's inner circle, is being "inundated with terrorist propaganda spread by supporters of Islamic State," Politico reported after a review of the Platform activities.
Such content includes "graphic videos of beheadings, viral memes promoting violence against the West, and even memes of a militant execution of Trump," in an orange Guantanamo Bay-themed jumpsuit, Politico writes. The social network, which is intended as a "MAGA alternative to sites like Facebook and Twitter", only started a month ago. The debacle underscores the obstacles facing GETTR as it seeks to uphold an "ethos of free speech" without creating a "safe haven" for extremism, according to Politico.
Moustafa Ayad, executive director of the Institute for Strategic Dialogue - a "think tank that pursues online extremism" - told Politico that the Islamic State "took advantage of GETTR very quickly". "On Facebook there was one of those accounts I follow, known as Islamic State, that said, 'Oh, Trump announced his new platform. Inshallah, all the mujahideen are going to take advantage of that platform." Ayad continued, "The next day there were at least 15 accounts on GETTR that were Islamic State."
GETTR eventually took steps to remove some of the myriad jihadist posts from early July. Without the same resources available to Facebook and Twitter, however, jihadists appear to be testing GETTR's likely less robust detection services so they can "stay ahead of online distances," according to Politico.
Trump himself is not directly involved in GETTR's operations, nor is he accountable. Read more under Politico.
