'It’s just insulting, but I guess you don’t care': Albertans tear up Jason Kenney's promo video to make Edmonton an NHL hub city

It makes sense to bring the @NHL to #Edmonton.

We look forward to welcoming the league and players here in Alberta to learn about the beautiful province we have to offer.

While three Canadian cities, Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto, are waiting to become one of the NHL “hub cities” when the professional hockey league returns, Alberta has taken a unique approach to promoting the choice of its city .
On Monday, Alberta Prime Minister Jason Kenney released a video promoting the province titled "It's the obvious choice to bring @NHL to #Edmonton."
The video begins with the words "Playoffs in Edmonton" and "Play in the Rockies" as it moves into the mountains and adults and children seem to be enjoying their stay in the province.
However, there is one problem: the video doesn't really seem to show much of the city of Edmonton. However, if shows several pictures of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, every several hours from the city proper.
This oversight was not overlooked by the Albertans on social media, who quickly flooded Twitter with comments on the video:

The worst part is that Edmonton itself has some pretty cool things to offer. They hadn't used other parts of the province to make it look better. It's just an insult, but I don't think you care about Edmonton anyway, because they didn't vote for you.

So you want the NHL to bring hockey to #yeg, but you highlight the Rockies. At best 4 hours drive from #yeg. I think it is too difficult for us to expect the Prime Minister to really know the province's geography. Even after your "big blue" truck tour.

The video left some asking if NHL players, if they played in Edmonton, could travel to other parts of the province after their arrival. Last week, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, when players arrive in the province, they would be kept together in a cohort at all times and kept away from the general population.

So the ice fields are in Edmonton now ?! Nothing you showed is within two hours.

There is a travel ban, so which tourists come?

How much did this video cost us?

Dear NHL,

This video shows exactly 4 seconds of the actual city of Edmonton, everything else is 2-6 hours drive away and none of the players / team members will be able to see it as they are locked in strict quarantine.

Do you know what you're buying (and it's not)

If the players are quarantined in Edmonton, how will they visit Banff and Jasper? And if they are not quarantined, are we sure we want to involve Arizona or Florida people?

Waiting! What? Do you sell the Rockies as part of @NHL's perks in Edmonton? Didn't you take geography at school? I thought your pitch was that the arena district would allow you to stay isolated? Did this change? Did you see the COVID statistics south of us?

It appears that Alberta's small, bitter NDP is now fighting Edmonton's NHL offer to become a playoff hub.

Players bring their families with them - families looking for things to keep them busy during playoffs of up to 2 months.

The government's push continues. This tweet and video relate to the idea that player families can spend time in the Rocky Mountains and vacation while players stay in the bubble and play games. Part of the place for families.
