Ivanka Trump Has Mocked Melania Trump as 'The Portrait' Because She Rarely Spoke, Biography Claims

A controversial new biography of First Lady Melania Trump shades in long-standing reports that she and stepdaughter Ivanka Trump sometimes had problems with each other.
According to Mary Jordan's The Art of Her Deal, Ivanka called father Donald Trump's third wife, a former model, "The Portrait" because the first lady spoke so little and Mrs. Trump Ivanka, a senior White House, called adjutant "The Princess "as an obvious reflection of their claim or privilege.
These details from the book, which will be published on Tuesday, have been included in a New York Times review and follow other headline-grabbing details from Jordan's reporting.

(According to the Times review, the book says that Ivanka used her nickname for her stepmother "as younger" but is no more specific.)
Jordan, a Pulitzer Prize winner, pulled from over 100 interviews for the biography.
The first lady's spokeswoman dismissed The Art of Her Deal as "fiction," and a White House spokesman was similarly scornful.
"Another book about Mrs. Trump with wrong information and sources," said Stephanie Grisham, Mrs. Trump's chief of staff, last week. "This book belongs to the genre of fiction."
Regardless, White House spokesman Judd Deere said, "These allegations could not be further from the truth. If the Washington Post or the editors of this book checked it with Ivanka's office, they would know. Hits like these only serve . " to summon nonexistent palace intrigue stories that are unworthy of the paper they are printed on. "

The Art of Her Deal caused waves for the first time last week when details were posted in the post, including that Ms. Trump, 50, according to Jordan, renegotiated her marriage agreement with the president after his 2016 election victory.
It is not the first indication that there were problems between the First Lady and Ivanka, 38. A 2017 Vanity Fair article described "a frostiness between the two" that Grisham denied at the time, saying that they "always shared a close relationship."
A 2019 biography of Mrs. Trump by CNN reporter Kate Bennett - also blown up by the White House - suggests the infamous "I really don't care, Do U?" To the first lady. The jacket, worn by migrant children during the visit, was a stab in Ivanka over Mrs. Trump's anger at Ivanka, who was trying to gain more recognition for her work to mitigate the Trump administration's immigration stance.

Elsewhere in her new book, Jordan writes that the First Lady "didn't like how" Ivanka initially felt comfortable in the White House and "set boundaries."
As a source in New York and Florida circles where the Trumps travel, PEOPLE said recently: It is "no secret" that the First Lady "is not friends with the three older Trump children".
However, in an interview with PEOPLE in 2016, Ivanka praised her stepmother: "Melania is very smart, she is very warm, she has an incredible heart."
