Jack White showed off his guitar skills and subtly nodded to one of the greats during his appearance on "Saturday Night Live".
The former White Stripes frontman played the song "Lazaretto" from his 2014 album of the same name with an Eddie Van Halen blue guitar. The band's revolutionary lead guitarist, Van Halen, died on October 6th.
"The guitar was designed by Eddie (with some adjustments that I added)," White said in an Instagram post. "Eddie was very nice to me and made sure this guitar was made for me to my specifications. I'm not even going to offend the man's talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. Thank you again Eddie, for that guitar and rest in peace sir. "
As White wrote, there were no riffs from Van Halen songs while he was playing "Lazaretto". However, fans of Eddie's craftsmanship will find White finger picking the neck of the guitar, which was a classic Van Halen move.

Eddie Van Halen died of throat cancer at the age of 65. His incredible guitar riffs and songwriting made the group Van Halen, which he formed with his brother drummer Alex, one of the most influential rock bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
