According to the Japanese Times, the easing of restrictions means travelers can present either a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country. In addition, travelers from the USA can enter the country without a short-term visa.

Osaka:

Osaka is a huge port city on the island of Honshu. Must-visit attractions include Osaka Castle, Tennoji Park, and Hitennō-ji. It takes about 3 hours to get from Tokyo to Osaka by train. Osaka is also known as Japan's street food capital, so be sure to stroll the streets of Dotonbori to sample everything.

Tohoku is a region in northern Japan. Far from the busy streets, this area is known for its mountains, volcanoes, hot springs and rural landscapes. This area is perfect for travelers who want to get lost in the countryside and nature. Some must see places are Matsushima Bay and Lake Towada, Akita and Aomori.
Kyoto:
When I think of Kyoto, I think of "old Japan". In addition, Kyoto is a beautiful mix of tradition, stunning architecture and culture. In addition to authentic cuisine, the city has many Buddhist temples to offer. Kyoto is about 2 hours from Tokyo by JR train. Top Kyoto attractions include the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Fushimi Inari Shrine and a traditional tea ceremony.
