Arisa Tsubata ran solo on a treadmill at the opening ceremony
to show how athletes prepared for the Games in isolation
(SOUNDBITE) (Japanese) NURSE AND BOXER, ARISA TSUBATA, SAY:
"Not just the athletes, but a lot of people have been grappling with a lot of things over the past year as I got through the news. I prepared the show in hopes that it will help people get on a little bit too."
Tsubata did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics

"This year I took part in the Olympic Games as a competitive athlete, but I have the feeling that I want to take part in the Olympic Games as an athlete next time."
