Jennifer Garner celebrated the launch of Ina Garten's Modern Comfort Food in the cutest possible way.
On Tuesday, the 48-year-old actress paid tribute to Garten in the latest episode of her "Pretend Cooking Show" on Instagram. After receiving and "reading like a novel" the Modern Comfort Food cookbook over the weekend, she decided to make Garten's Crispy Chicken with Lemon Orzo for lunch.
"Everything here is exactly what you want to cook and exactly what you want to eat right now," she says at the beginning of the episode.
Garner quickly delves into prep work. First it peels, then it extracts the juice from a lemon. "Ina always says lust before you juice!" Next, she measures out the feta and orzo before chopping the dill and parsley.

Usually the mother of three isn't particularly well prepared during her "Pretend Cooking Show", but she had a special reason to be for this episode - Ina herself recorded a video to be part of the fun and help Garner create her own Signature to cook crispy chicken.
While Garner dredges the chicken schnitzel in a flour mixture, Garten explains her reasons for using canola oil and butter to cook the chicken: "They are good together because you get the taste of the butter and the high burning temperature of rapeseed."

While the chicken is cooking, Garner reveals the other recipes she's made from Garten's book so far: milk chocolate oreo ice cream and frozen flavors. "My freezer will never be without again!" Garner says about the tequila cocktail.

Once the chicken and orzo are done, the Barefoot Contessa star recommends two different ways to coat it. “You can do it restaurant style with the orzo downstairs and the chicken upstairs,” she says. "Or the way you do it is homestyle - I think that's the right way to do it here." Garner jokes: "I do it mom-style: where nothing else is allowed to touch."

The Chicken is a huge hit for Garner, and she says she can't wait to work her way through the book, which is available now on Amazon for $ 23.50.
The last time the "real friends" met to cook was in November 2019 for a special Thanksgiving Day for the Walmart Community Table Initiative at the Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.
Regardless, they shared recipes with their followers throughout the quarantine. Garten's dishes included everything from convenient meals made with affordable pantry staples like beans, lentils, and ramen noodles to a huge cosmopolitan cocktail (made with 2 cups of vodka!) That took on the nationwide vibe in a weird way.
"It gave me a focus when we didn't have one and connected me to people who were really having problems," she says of her posts. "I think people liked that I kept it upbeat even though we were all concerned."
