Jenny Slate leaves Netflix's Big Mouth animated series after three seasons, citing the irresponsible cast of a white actress to cast the role of a black character. Slate was the voice of the series' biracial main character, Missy Foreman-Greenwald. Slates Casting has been criticized as comic whitewash over the years, among other examples such as Hank Azaria, the Apu in "The Simpsons" and Alison Brie, which Diane Nguyen pronounced in "BoJack Horseman".
"At the start of the show, I reasoned with myself that I was allowed to play" Missy "because her mother was Jewish and white - just like me," Slate wrote on Instagram. "But 'Missy' is also black and black characters in an animated show should be played by blacks."

"When I look back at nature and the appearance of my own voice in the comedy, I know I made mistakes that way," continued Slate in her statement. "I cannot change the past, but I can take responsibility for my decisions. I will continue to engage in sensible anti-racist measures, think about the messages in my work, be curious and open to feedback, and do my best to take responsibility for those Way to take over in which I'm part of the problem, but the most important thing for anyone I hurt is: I'm very sorry. Black voices must be heard. Black lives count. ":
Last July, Netflix renewed "Big Mouth" for seasons 4, 5 and 6. The group's animation company will produce several animation series and films for Netflix. The company is also working on a spin-off series "Human Resource", "Human Resource".
Big Mouth also includes Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph and Jordan Peele. Read Slate's statement on leaving the series completely in the following Instagram post.
