Jets fans mad at punter for game-saving (and Trevor Lawrence-losing) tackle
The Jets stumbled at 11:20 pm on Sunday towards the end of the fourth quarter, and for a moment it seemed like Ram's returnees Nsimba Webster was about to break out into the open for a game-winning touchdown. But Jets punter Braden Mann attacked Webster after a 34-yard return, the Jets defenses maintained eventual possession and the Jets retained victory.
Jets fans weren't happy.
Mann said fans told him on social media that he screwed up the future of the franchise by costing them the first overall selection in the draft and the chance to take on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
"I got a few messages like this," he said of ESPN's Rich Cimini. "But whoever says that, I don't think they ever tried to compete in something like that. For us, we get paid to play. We are paid to win."
Man it doesn't matter what these fans think.
"The response to social media couldn't care less, to be honest," he said.
Fans may want to refuel, but that's not the mindset of NFL players. When you are on the field, you play to win. Man did that.
