Jets QB Zach Wilson benched and will be inactive against Bears in Week 11, team will start Mike White

The New York Jets have seen enough of quarterback Zach Wilson. After Sunday's poor offensive performance against the New England Patriots, the Jets benched Wilson ahead of the team's Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears, head coach Robert Saleh confirmed.
Jets players were reportedly briefed on the decision during a team briefing on Wednesday.
With Wilson on the bench, Team Mike White will start against Chicago. The 27-year-old White appeared in four games last year, throwing five touchdowns against eight interceptions.

Longtime NFL veteran Joe Flacco, 37, will serve as White's backup in Week 12. He started in three games for the team earlier this season while Wilson was recovering from an injury. Flacco completed 58.7 percent of his passes and threw 5 touchdowns against 3 interceptions in those games.
After starting the team's final seven games, Wilson will be inactive against the Bears. Wilson was reportedly disappointed when he heard the news.
"It's never fun," Wilson said of NFL Network's Mike Giardi. "But the first thing that went through my mind was, 'I have to find a job. I have to get better.' ... I wouldn't necessarily say surprised because I didn't do my job.
Zach Wilson under fire after poor performance against Patriots
Wilson hasn't performed well in 2022, and his struggles against the Patriots were seemingly the last straw for the Jets. Wilson went 9 for 22 against New England and threw just 77 yards. The team couldn't cope offensively and only scored three points in the 10:3 defeat.
After the game, Wilson was criticized for not taking responsibility for the team's offensive struggles.
His teammates and head coach saw things differently. Receiver Garrett Wilson was blunt when asked about the offense, saying, "This shit ain't okay." Head coach Robert Saleh called the offense "dogs***."
