Jim Parsons Kept Cleanshaven During COVID-19 Fight For 'Morbid' Reason
Actor Jim Parsons said he shaved every day during his week-long illness with the coronavirus, which he freely admitted was a "morbid" reason.
"The Big Bang Theory" star told Seth Meyers on Thursday that he wanted to look well-groomed when he was hospitalized.
"Partly it was because I felt better when I was clean shaven, and partly - and this is so pathological - I thought that if I have to be taken to the hospital, I want to look like I was trying," he explained. "I want to inspire people to come to me and help me."
"It's so sick," the actor admitted. "I don't mean to joke about it. But that was my life, so I think I'll give it my all."
Parsons and husband Todd Spiewak both contracted the virus in March. Parsons described last month how he temporarily lost his sense of smell and taste from the illness.
He had had the "mild case" for about six weeks, he told Meyers, citing other symptoms of fever and chest pressure. At least 50% of his “pain” is due to fear and fear of the virus.
